Data Management Process Designer

At a glance

Do you want to be part of the Data Revolution in the banking industry? Do you have a strong passion for data, and do you agree that data is at the core of creating value for customers? Does working in a complex environment energize you? Then come help us unlock the power of data at the Central Data Office (CDO) of ABN AMRO!

You help realise the delivery of the ABN AMRO strategy: a Personal Bank in a Digital Age. You ensure that the entire bank follows the correct route towards a fully data driven organisation. From shaping new concepts to designing and guiding data management initiatives. You are able to quickly submerge yourself in a brand-new initiative, shape it and ensure it is properly anchored for successful execution.

Your job

As a Data Management Process Designer in the Value Proposition Team (VPT) of the Data Management department, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of becoming a data driven bank. You are great at connecting the dots between different topics within Data Management and strong in formulating requirements. In doing so, you determine a clear direction for solving complex and ambiguous problems. Your expertise will span the entire data management lifecycle, allowing you to craft compelling narratives that showcase the value our solutions bring to our clients.

Your work includes

  1. Diving into the different data management offerings, for instance in light of BCBS 239 requirements
  2. Create a holistic view of the different data management processes and tools that need to be used to manage and govern the data required for a use case: what works well, what does not, how do the processes and tools connect to each other
  3. Identify and drive improvements for these data management processes and tools with the different responsible Product Owners
  4. Translating challenges from the federated data domains in our organisation to high level integrated solution directions

Furthermore, you are an active contributor to the topics your colleagues in the team are working on:

  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to conceptualize and design data management capabilities that align with our strategic objectives
  • Anticipating future challenges, emerging trends and technologies and other opportunities in data management and analytics
  • Driving strategic initiatives (e.g. BCBS 239, EU AI Act) to enhance our data management capabilities, ensuring alignment with business goals and future needs

This role requires strong conceptual capabilities, a solid understanding of data management as well as the ability to effectively collaborate with a diverse group of stakeholders and independently driving the implementation of improvement proposals.

Working environment

The Value Proposition Team consists of data management and analytics experts and enthusiasts and ensures that the Data Management Grid thinks ahead on a tactical and sometimes strategic level in the design of the data management capabilities over a longer time horizon (1-2 years). The department is complementary to three other departments in the Grid, which focus mainly on operations (building applications, adoption). You will work closely with these other departments in the Grid, other departments in CDO and with stakeholders and users of our data management capabilities throughout the bank.

Next to your day-to-day work, there is room to design, create and implement new processes especially when you are the one who is suggesting the change for the better! We do so in an open and transparent way of working where your opinion is valued, and dialogue is encouraged. The team is diverse with regards to culture, experience and age. The atmosphere is lively and informal, closely monitoring a safe environment where everyone is able to share their thoughts, feelings and worries. It is normal to make mistakes, and we aim to help each other grow.

Your profile

  • Master’s degree in a relevant field such as Information Science, Business Information Management
  • At least 3 years of experience with data management topics like data lineage, data governance and business glossaries
  • Proven track record of developing value propositions for complex solutions, preferably in data management
  • Strong understanding of industry-standard data management practices and technologies and data management concepts, principles and practices
  • Understanding and bridging the world of business, data and IT
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to translate complex concepts into clear, compelling narratives for diverse audiences and influence stakeholders at all levels
  • Always interested in different perspectives and curious to get new insights from colleagues as well as the industry
  • Fluent in English (understanding of Dutch is appreciated)
