We are looking for a Data Scientist as part of the new data science team within the Credit Analytics team. The Credit Analytics team is part of the Financing Solutions (FS) product unit which has end-to-end responsibility for delivering lending products to all client segments. It is like the engine room of lending and offers advice, monitors credit status and offers appropriate credit solutions. FS provides exposures of over one million euros of credit advice.

The work of a Data Scientist includes advanced analytics experiments to identify, develop and implement data opportunities and solutions. Possible examples are to develop and implement data models to predict client behaviour and use data to automate controls and trigger credit risk alerts. As Data Scientist, you will work with the Credit Domain Data Store containing billions of rows of data from multiple sources including transaction, credit and customer data. We are seeking a Data Scientist who is driven by curiosity and passionate about using data to create solutions to actual business problems and able to execute complex projects together with other (junior) data professionals.

As a Data Scientist, you will be collaborating with a range of business partners in Financing Solutions. You will help drive commercial growth through the application of data science and analytics and create significant business impact. You will play an important role in which you have a direct influence on how commercial bankers and lenders recommend suitable lending products for our corporate customers.

Your job

• Support in setting up the data science capability within Financing Solutions. This gives you the opportunity to really make your mark and have a high impact from the start
• Work on multiple data projects together with data analysts and scientists in the team
• Support other data professionals in the team with their projects and to improve their skills 
• Perform data analysis and experiments, make data available for end-users and create advanced data solutions in the Credits Data Domain
• Responsibility in setting up the Data Science / Advanced Analytics life cycle: Ideation, data preparation, feature engineering, modelling, monitoring etc.
• Transform (internal and external) raw data into working data solutions in close collaboration with the data/machine learning engineering team
• Work closely with business partners to ensure that the teams are able to leverage data across Financing Solutions

Working environment

The new Credit Analytics team has just been setup and currently consists of 8 young and eager data professionals, all with a Beta background. The current focus of the team is to build-up the data analytics capability but we also have an ambition to start executing opportunities using data science, this is where you come in.

The new Credit Analytics team is part of a broader department named Credit & Collateral Data Management and Strategy which is responsible for data quality, data distribution and data analytics within Financing Solutions. We collaborate a lot and help each other with data challenges, we all are eager to learn and develop ourselves. We work hybrid, team members work at least two days per week from our headquarters in Amsterdam. As you will start in a new data team, there are possibilities to explore and develop yourself in other areas like data consultancy, data analytics and engineering but also to develop yourself as a senior data scienctist.

Your profile

• A master’s degree in econometrics, mathematics, business analytics, data science, data engineering or a (STEM) related field
• A minimum of 3-5 years of relevant working experience in a highly analytical environment, which can include data analytics, data engineering or data science
• Knowledge of major programming languages, preferably Python, PySpark and SQL
• Knowledge of Machine Learning algorithms / packages (such as Scikit-learn, XGBoost etc.) and model explainability (e.g. SHAP)
• ML engineering experience with implementing advanced analytics robustly in various target (cloud) systems. Experience with Cloud tools (Azure Databricks and Azure Data Lake Storage) is preferred. 

The successful candidate should also have the ability to

• Work independently in a complex, dynamic environment and be able to successfully complete data projects including stakeholder management
• Collaborate with other data professionals to solve complex business problems using data
• See opportunities for learning and improvement (inside and outside the department) 
• Communicate efficiently with a wide variety of technical and non-technical business partners
• Consider the risks and required processes in working with customer data
